Eight Editions of Dialogue

The Baghdad International Dialogue is an annual two-day gathering that brings together decision-makers, policymakers, diplomats, researchers and experts to discuss the issues shaping Iraq, the region and the wider world.

The eighth edition will take place in Baghdad on 21 and 22 August 2026, continuing a journey that began with the first Dialogue in 2017.

Over seven editions, the Dialogue has grown in scale and international reach. Its seventh edition brought together more than 100 prominent participants from 22 countries, reflecting the expanding scope of the conversations taking place in Baghdad.. Each edition has created space for diverse perspectives to meet, exchange ideas and examine the challenges and opportunities shaping Iraq and the region.

The journey to each Dialogue begins months before the opening sessions, as the issues of the moment are identified, the programme is developed and participants from Iraq and around the world are brought together.

This year, the eighth edition takes place under the theme “100 Days Since the Formation of the Ninth Government: Iraq’s Transition from Crisis Management to Building Strategic Partnerships.” The theme reflects a central question for Iraq’s next phase: how can the country move beyond managing crises to building the strategic partnerships needed to strengthen its regional and international role?

Eight editions on, the Baghdad International Dialogue continues to provide a platform for that conversation, from Baghdad to the region and the wider world.
