Baghdad Dialogue Conference
The fifth Baghdad Dialogue Conference, organized by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, commenced today, Sunday, under the theme “Iraq: Twenty Years… What Next?”
The two-day conference is being attended by dozens of political, security, and economic figures from both inside and outside Iraq.
The conference began with the playing of the Iraqi national anthem, followed by speeches from the President of the Iraqi Institute, Abbas Radhi Al-Amiri, and then Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani.
Following this, a dialogue session entitled “Resilience in the Face of the Storm: Iraq and Climate Change” was held, followed by a session entitled “Beyond Oil: Iraq’s Energy Needs,” and an evening session entitled “Factors for Improving the Investment Environment in Iraq.”
The second day of the conference, tomorrow, Monday, will witness an “open meeting with the Prime Minister for an hour and a half,” followed by a dialogue session entitled “Governance and Combating Corruption,” then a session on “Freedom of Expression and the Role of Social Media,” and the sessions will conclude with a dialogue on “The Banking System in Iraq.” The Ministers of Oil, Communications, Labor and Social Affairs, and the Governor of the Central Bank will participate in the sessions during the conference.
