Syrian Researcher at the 6th Baghdad International Dialogue Conference: Iraq Has Been Syria’s Greatest Supporter

Dr. Isabella Zidan, a Syrian researcher, highlighted during her participation in the 6th Baghdad International Dialogue Conference that Iraq has been the country that most supported Syria throughout its recent crises, both during the blockade and after the devastating earthquake.

She said, “We thank Iraq for its role in supporting Syria at a time when other Arab countries abandoned us. While the world is focused on the climate crisis, we are facing a food crisis that could lead to famine, and most of our population has fallen below the poverty line due to imposed sanctions and blockades.”

Dr. Zidan added, “The neighboring country that has helped Syria the most is Iraq.”
