The Iraqi Institute for Dialogue Issues a Statement on the 7th Baghdad International Dialogue

The Iraqi Institute for Dialogue has issued a statement regarding the 7th Baghdad International Dialogue, one of Iraq’s most prominent political and intellectual events. The conference commenced on February 22, 2025, and lasted for two days, with the participation of political, diplomatic, economic, and academic figures from various countries around the world, to discuss regional and international challenges and their impact on Iraq and the wider region.

Below is the full text of the statement:

Amid the challenges and transformations facing Iraq and the region, the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference comes to reaffirm Iraq’s position as a hub for regional and international dialogue and communication. This event has become a global platform for open discussion and the exchange of ideas, including topics often left unaddressed, away from narrow political orientations or individual interests, with the aim of enriching debates on fundamental issues of concern to the region and the world.

At the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, we affirm that all opinions expressed during the conference represent solely the views of their speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Institute or its organizers. Our primary objective is to create an open space for dialogue, where diverse perspectives are presented to understand how others think, without adopting any particular opinion or stance, in the belief that diversity of views is the foundation of intellectual enrichment and societal progress.

We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all contributors and participants who helped make this event a success, including decision-makers, academics, researchers, representatives of governmental and private institutions, as well as media outlets that played a key role in conveying the discussions to a wider audience. We also express our gratitude to the Iraqi government for its continued support of such intellectual events that enhance Iraq’s role on the regional and international stage.

The Baghdad International Dialogue will remain a free platform for dialogue and interaction, bringing together various parties to discuss solutions and future visions, free from any bias. We believe that dialogue is the foundation of construction and progress, and we will continue our efforts to entrench these principles, affirming that Iraq has been and will remain a meeting point for cultures, ideas, and shared aspirations.
