The Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Hunn, affirmed that Switzerland views Iraq as an “important regional player” and is keen to play an active role in local investments by strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking during his participation in the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference on Sunday, Hunn said that “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani has made significant efforts to restore relations between Baghdad and Geneva, opening the door to new investment opportunities.”
He noted that “the Swiss government recognizes Iraq’s importance in the region, which is why Swiss companies are seeking to be part of investment projects in the country,” adding that there is “an Iraqi community in Switzerland that is interested in returning to their homeland to restore their interests, a process the Swiss government is working to facilitate.”
The Swiss ambassador stressed that Switzerland “views Iraq as an important economic partner and aspires to enhance investment cooperation in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries.”
