Mohammed Al-Hassan, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Iraq, emphasized during his speech at the 7th Baghdad International Dialogue that Iraq and the broader Middle East are experiencing a pivotal stage that requires coordinated efforts to enhance security and stability.
Al-Hassan highlighted Iraq’s determination to advance regional stability, drawing on its long history of fostering constructive dialogue. He stressed the importance of achieving national consensus that unites all parties under Iraq’s higher interest.
The UN representative praised Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani’s vision for improving public services and strengthening security and stability, affirming that the United Nations remains a committed partner in Iraq’s path toward stability and development.
He stated, “Iraq is determined to continue supporting stability, security, and national unity,” emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue based on mutual respect, nurturing Iraqis’ love for their country, and focusing on building a strong, safe, and stable Iraq.
Al-Hassan added that “Iraq, with its long history, requires constructive dialogue under a single principle: the interest of the nation,” noting that Prime Minister Al-Sudani has a clear vision for enhancing services and maintaining security. He reiterated that “the United Nations supports Iraq and will remain a steadfast partner.”
