The Preparatory Committee for the 8th Baghdad International Dialogue Conference held its regular meeting to follow up on the arrangements for the conference, scheduled to take place in April 2026.
During the meeting, participants conducted a comprehensive review of logistical and organizational requirements, assessing proposed plans to ensure the success of the upcoming edition in line with the conference’s stature and its role in fostering national and regional discussions on Iraq’s future.
The committee discussed the proposed theme for the 8th edition, focusing on consolidating stability, enhancing governance, and developing regional and international partnerships as core pillars for guiding Iraq toward a more politically and economically resilient stage. Several alternative themes reflecting current national and regional developments were also considered.
The nature of invitations and session agendas was also addressed, with agreement reached to broaden the participation circle to include international government officials.
Conference sessions will cover topics such as economic reform, good governance, regional de-escalation policies, and energy security, alongside special sessions dedicated to discussing Iraq’s role in the Arab and international environment.
