Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji Highlights Key Security Challenges at the 6th Baghdad Dialogue Conference

Iraq’s National Security Adviser, H.E. Qassem Al-Araji, revealed critical security insights during his participation in the 6th Baghdad Dialogue Conference, describing Al-Hol Camp as a ticking time bomb due to ongoing security challenges.

Al-Araji noted that the Iraqi authorities have rehabilitated 1,200 families and returned them to their original areas, emphasizing that Iraq’s primary request to concerned countries is to withdraw their nationals from the camp.

He pointed out that only 24 out of 60 countries have repatriated their citizens, leaving continued security risks.

The National Security Adviser also stressed that drug trafficking, rather than ISIS, currently poses the number one threat to Iraq, highlighting the need to prioritize combating organized crime and smuggling networks.
