As part of the 6th Baghdad Dialogue Conference 2024, journalist Mona Sami conducted an interview with H.E. Hayyan Abdul-Ghani, Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, discussing the strategic vision of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.
Abdul-Ghani outlined the government’s plan to strengthen the national economy by achieving self-sufficiency in natural gas and ending gas flaring completely through major investment contracts with international companies. He emphasized Iraq’s commitment to OPEC decisions to maintain global market stability, while striving to increase production capacity and develop the refining and petroleum products sector to shift from import dependency to export orientation.
He also highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure multiple oil export routes and update investment laws to attract foreign companies, stressing that security stability is closely linked to economic development across all regions of Iraq.
