The Preparatory Committee for the 8th Baghdad International Dialogue Conference held its regular meeting to follow up on preparations for the conference, which is set to convene in April 2026.
During the meeting, the committee conducted a comprehensive review of the logistical and organizational requirements, as well as the proposed plans aimed at ensuring the success of the upcoming edition in a manner that reflects the conference’s standing and its role in fostering national and regional discussions on Iraq’s future.
The committee also discussed the proposed theme for the eighth edition, which focuses on strengthening stability, enhancing governance, and advancing regional and international partnerships as essential pillars for guiding Iraq toward a more politically and economically stable phase. Several alternative themes reflecting current national and regional developments were also considered.
Additionally, the committee reviewed the nature of invitations and the structure of discussion tracks, agreeing to broaden participation to include international government officials.
The conference agenda will cover issues related to economic reform, good governance, regional de-escalation policies, and energy security, in addition to special sessions dedicated to examining Iraq’s role within its Arab and international environments.
